“Stranger Things” is without question one of the most successful Netflix productions around the world, but the end of the series is in sight. Now the Duffer brothers have announced another Stranger Things series – but not as you might think.
After “Stranger Things” is before “Stranger Things” – yes, it really will be like that. After the fifth season, which we don’t expect until early 2024 at the earliest, the series will be complete. But we will probably not have to do without the beloved small town of Hawkins and the mysterious characters who live there in the future either!
Netflix has announced (via The Hollywood Reporter) that Matt and Ross Duffer are producing an animated series set in the Stranger Things universe. Eric Robles came up with the idea and the Duffer brothers are already excited: “The scripts and artwork are amazing, we can’t wait to share more with you! The adventure continues”.
“Stranger Things” cartoons for Netflix!
How exactly the adventure continues and whether characters from the original series (and perhaps original voices as well) will appear in the new production has not yet been revealed. One thing is for sure, the new series will be in the vein of the ’80s cartoons that aired on TV every Saturday morning. Examples include “Masters Of The Universe”, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” and “GI Joe”.
It is not yet known when the “Stranger Things” cartoons will be available on Netflix. With the cartoons slated to air after the series ends, it will be a while before we see an animated Hawkins…
“Stranger Things” as far as the eye can see
So we can expect not only the fifth and final season of “Stranger Things”, but also a cartoon series that will take place in the “Stranger Things” universe. But that’s not all. As previously reported, there will also be a Stranger Things play! The production will be called “Stranger Things: The First Shadow” and will be staged in London’s West End at the Phoenix.
