Netflix has released the official trailer for the political drama series “The Diplomat” starring Golden Globe winner Keri Russell. The series, which consists of eight one-hour episodes, will meet with the audience on April 20.
In “The Diplomat,” Keri Russell plays Kate Wyler, the US ambassador who is assigned to the UK instead of the originally planned Afghanistan. Kate must defuse an international crisis in which war is about to break out, forge new alliances and adjust to her new position in the spotlight.
But besides all this, there is another crisis to solve. Kate must deal with all the diplomatic issues as she tries to survive her marriage to fellow diplomat and political star Hal Wyler (Rufus Sewell). The trailer for “The Diplomat” emphasizes that the series will explore “the transcendence and torture of long-term relationships between countries and people”.
The series was created by Debora Cahn, who also served as showrunner, who also served as executive producer. The cast also includes names such as David Gyasi, Ali Ahn, Rory Kinnear, Ato Essandoh, Celia Imrie, Michael McKean, Nana Mensah, T’Nia Miller, and Miguel Sandoval.
