Some video games have found their successful way to the silver screen, most notably the series The Last of Us, but one of the prominent actors in American cinema hopes to see Red Dead Redemption get similar TV work as well.
Actor Jack Black, who played Bowser in The Super Mario Bros BBC greatly praised the success of The Last of Us series and its loyalty to the game, describing it as a great achievement for the industry, especially after the failure of many previous attempts.
Black said:
The Last of Us was awesome. What is interesting is how faithful it is to the source material. It was all adapted from the game with just a few tweaks. You will win all prizes. They used the video game almost like a task board.
This success, Black believes, will motivate video game developers to deepen the stories of their games to be suitable, or even competitive, for the TV business in the future. He noted that he believes that in the coming years, we will see more games that will successfully reach the silver screen.
Will we see Red Dead Redemption one day?
When Black was asked about the next game he would like to see hit the silver screen, his answer was quick and clear. It is the famous cowboy game Red Dead Redemption from Rockstar, which is believed to be a success that will outpace all of these current successes.
Black believes that the game’s story provides a cinematic experience similar to what the series The Last of Us presented, or it may surpass it, as he believes.
Perhaps Black is right about that, as most of us managed to play the two games, and according to my personal opinion, I think that the story of the Red Dead Redemption game is more deep and powerful, and it may be more exciting if it is turned into a TV work.
Recently, many video games have achieved great success when they are turned into television works, we mention the series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, which was shown on the Netflix network. Also, the series Arcane: League of Legends, won the award for best TV work based on a video game at The Game Awards 2022.
On the other hand, we are still on a date with more TV works based on upcoming video games, as Sony is working on producing God of War, Ghost of Tsushima, and Death Stranding for TV.
Do you think a movie based on the Red Dead Redemption story will be successful?
