I’ve always wanted to write and share my life experiences related to getting the life I want, however, I haven’t been able to start for years; I looked at the lives of some successful writers, and I was so impressed by what they did, and I looked at what other writers and bloggers did with their writing online, and wished I could do the same, and then after years of doing nothing, I realized there were some differences between the writers I admired and me. Myself.
Note: This article is taken from the blogger “Vishnu”, in which he tells us about 7 barriers that prevent us from living the life we want.
I also noticed that what prevented me from achieving what they achieved had little to do with natural ability; It had more to do with mentality, and I would stop myself from writing because I didn’t want it enough, and even if I wanted it enough, I never even started.
What is stopping you from living your dreams? And what’s stopping you from getting started? There are 7 obstacles standing in your way, which are:
1. Take action on the life you want.
You may enjoy daydreaming or imagining what is possible, but you cannot take action on your idea or vision; Ideas are of no value, even your most brilliant ideas of what is possible for you, mean nothing at all if you do not act on them; Dreams are fueled by action, but here’s how it usually goes.
When you have a great idea, you think about the details of this idea, then you think about all the challenges that this idea poses, and then you keep it with the wonderful ideas in your mind, which one day you hope to start with, but that day never comes.
You paint a picture of your life full of great ideas that can change the world and improve people’s lives, but if you don’t implement these ideas, you will lose and the world will lose; So know that you don’t need to do everything; Rather, it suffices to do one thing today, which is to start; Today, take the smallest step you can imagine, take a bigger step tomorrow, and keep moving forward.
2. Hold yourself accountable.
After you start, to succeed, you have to hold yourself accountable; What does accountability mean, and who should you be accountable to? Accountability is doing the thing you said you would do, and the only person you have to be held accountable to is yourself.
Some people may feel overwhelmed by the goals they want to achieve, and if you are one of those people who are overwhelmed by goals, deliberately do something you love every day. For example, instead of your goal being “to complete an e-book in a month,” let the goal be “write every day.” If your goal is to become more mindful, try a few minutes of meditation a day. If you feel like running 5-mile kilometers, so stick to running 1 kilometer every two days.
Have you noticed how highly successful people get things done? They figure out what they’re going to do and how they’re going to do it, then commit to doing it, relying on simple statements of encouragement like, “I’m not going to let myself down; I’m going to do what I said I’m going to do”; Other high performers rely on teachers, mentors, and coaches to hold themselves accountable; So set yourself small goals that you can achieve daily.
If you are facing an obstacle while doing something, or you are not regularly accomplishing your task, think carefully and ask yourself: “What are the obstacles I am facing? And what can help me get rid of these obstacles?”.
3. Share your thoughts with others:
When you have a dream or a vision, it may require you to share it with others, but sharing your creative or entrepreneurial projects with others is scary. This is because we care so much about what other people think.
I write to help others live their lives with honesty and spontaneity, knowing that not everyone will like my writing. There are always people who think badly of you or want to criticize you, but you have to start looking inside instead of looking around; So do things and take the action that matters to you, no matter what other people think.
4. Not having a strong “why”:
Are you one of those people who start new projects but never finish them? Who are the people who have great ideas, start with them, and don’t finish them either? Your success depends on two things: why you do the thing you do, and why you do it consistently.
To keep doing what you are doing, you have to know why; What is the reason for doing what you are doing, and is your dream or project in line with your purpose? In other words, do your values support your dream? Is your dream something important to you, and consistent with your purpose in life?
Be clear about why the dream you’re building is essential, and make sure it’s not something you read about in newspapers or blogs. This is because what is suitable for another person is not necessarily ideal for you. So be very clear about the reason so that you don’t give up after a couple of days.
If the project you’re doing stays in line with what’s important to you, you’ll feel more inclined to pursue it; So do something small, but regularly, and do it at the same time every day and raise the level of importance, and when you know how your actions relate to the dreams of your life, stick to them, and organize your priorities, and tell people around you what you are doing, and be accountable to them, and if you fail for a week or a month, So start over and keep going.
5. Fear of failure:
Likely, you will not start any project or work toward your dreams; This is because you fear failure. You don’t want to start anything, whether it’s a career, a dream, or an ambitious goal, without knowing what the outcome will be.
You see all the obstacles and challenges, you read about the people who failed and you look at the statistics of things that didn’t work, and you don’t want to waste your time, money, and energy on resources for a failed project, unless you think you won’t have any failures.
Working towards your dreams is in and of itself a success. Being able to do the things you desire inside of you or pursue your dreams is meaningful in and of itself. Creating, building, or striving to achieve your dream can never be a failure. Failure means improving your dreams and goals, it means experiencing, and learning, what you tried, and it means living a life without regrets.
If you can change your view of what failure means, you will look forward to failure, and the more you fail, the more you will know what does not work and what it takes to succeed.
6. Wanting to know all the answers:
When you’re taking on an ambitious new venture, launching a business, or releasing an e-book, you want to know all the answers early on. That is, you will want to know how long it will take you to work on any of these projects, what supplies you will need, and what legal problems can spoil your plans; You want someone to tell you, even before you start doing anything, whether your idea will succeed or fail.
There you have it, although it is natural to want to have supernatural abilities to know the results of things before you do them, you will never know what the future holds for you until you reach it, and to reach the future distinctively, focus on the present; You have a gift in the present time that overcomes any obstacle or challenge that may face your dreams; It is your intuition.
So instead of focusing on future problems and circumstances over which you have no control, listen to your inner voice of wisdom and advice in every moment; As your inner voice is your facilitator, guide, and clairvoyant, allow it to answer the questions you face, and allow it to guide you to your success.
7. Being satisfied with your current situation:
If you were comfortable where you are today, you would not begin to achieve your dreams and you would not have the drive or desire to make changes in your life. As for me, if I insisted on writing daily blogs or on writing for myself instead of publishing my work, I would not start writing for others, if I were so comfortable in The jobs I’ve had over the years when I quit spending months working on my writing.
in conclusion:
Change is uncertain, unknown, and uncomfortable, and we would all rather stay in our comfort zone than look forward to an unknown future. If you are ready to make changes in your life, you must be willing to explore the unknown, you must be willing to sacrifice and take risks, and you must be willing to work hard and try new things; If fear controls you, you will stay where you are, but if you take a little risk, those risks will propel you towards the life you have imagined.
